Wanted!  Outlaw Country  “I may be crazy, but it keeps me from going insane.” -Waylon Jennings.   Waylon Jennings was known for his “rough-edged” voice as well as his phrasing and texture.  He was recognized for his “spanky-twang” guitar playing.  To create this sound, he used a mixture of thumb and fingers during the rhythmic parts, while using picks for the lead runs.  Nashville gave him a hardtime for not fitting their heroic mold, not realizing that sometimes it takes a real outlaw to be a hero.   According to Waylon, "They wouldn't let you do anything. You had to dress a certain way: you had to do everything a certain way.... They kept trying to destroy me.... I just went about my business and did things my way....
